Wine Blog Introduction- My Experience with Wine

My Experience with Wine:

I have never been a big wine drinker. I have only tried wine on a handful of occasions. The first time I tried wine I believe I was ten or eleven years old; and it was during New Years under the supervision of my Mom and Dad....it was merely a sip and I HATED IT. I thought it was one of the worst, most bitter drinks  I had ever tasted. My parents got a good laugh out of my facial reaction and the way I ran for the Coca-Cola.

Now that I am of the legal drinking age, I rarely drink wine. Actually I probably drank the most wine I ever had last night during one of the wine tastings and after during our "dinner and wine" event. Between 6 of us, we drank three bottle of wine which I will discuss in another blog post. I have had franzia once or twice in my life but never found it to be that good.

The most notable things I have learned from this class so far is how the fermentation process creates alcohol. I would go ahead and say that Yeast should be awarded some type of prize for being the most badass little buggers to ever walk this Earth. Literally the only thing they do is bind with sugars and create a wonderful concoction that allows us to drink and be merry all weekend long. Also, I learned the most important part of the wine process is the grapes. The grapes decide what type of wine it will be, what it will taste like and how potent it will smell!

I really am looking forward to this class because I do find wine and alcohol especially interesting. I believe that understanding and knowing all these different types of wines and processes of creating wines will benefit me immensely in the future, especially being a finance major who is probably going to be working with clients and customers. Having a solid foundation in understanding wine could be beneficial and impress in future meetings and corporate dinners.
